United Way of Greater Portland would like to congratulate L.L. Bean and Bill Vickerson on receiving 2008 Governor's Service Awards.
L.L. Bean was honored with the Corporate Volunteerism Award for its continued work supporting non-profit organizations in the communities they touch. More than half of the 6,000 employees serve in hundreds of ways, from coaching local youth teams to serving on non-profit boards of directors.
Bill Vickerson was honored with a Volunteer of the Year Award for his exemplary service to the Greater Portland community. Bill, a long-time United Way volunteer, is currently the president of the 2-1-1 Maine board.
