Volunteer
Do you want to become a volunteer?
Civic engagement is a New England tradition that is alive and well in Maine. Everyone can find a way to give back to our communities whether on an occasional basis or each week. If you want to see improvement in your neighborhood, school, city or favorite agency, get involved. There are so many ways: serve food, help out on a board or committee, mentor a child, create a nature trail, or share your artistic talent with a nursing care facility. You will find these and many other opportunities listed here. Volunteering is the way Maine cares--you matter, and your service matters.

VolunteerMaine
VolunteerMaine is a database that:
- Links people who want to volunteer with opportunities
find a volunteer opportunity: - Provides a place for organizations to list their volunteer opportunities
- Organizations' special events and trainings
- Provides a donations program, DonationsLINK, that provides non-profit organizations with a place to post a wish list and for businesses and individuals to donate these items
United Way of Greater Portland is a key partner in the VolunteerMaine partnership, a collaborative effort between state, non-profit, public and private agencies who came together to promote volunteerism throughout the state of Maine. The Partnership's inaugural venture, VolunteerMaine.org is a state-wide, web-based volunteer database. Located at www.VolunteerMaine.org, the site serves as the state's virtual volunteer center and links agencies in need of volunteer assistance with people looking for volunteer opportunities. It is the first of its kind in the nation. So, whether you want to make a weekly, monthly or one-time commitment, VolunteerMaine.org has something for you.
