United Way of Greater Portland Announces Support for Referenda Questions 4 & 5

At its September meeting, United Way of Greater Portland’s Board of Directors voted to endorse the passage of Maine Referendum Questions 4 & 5 on this November’s ballot.  Both bonds questions directly align with the UWGP’s public policy agenda and support the work of Thrive2027 Goal 2.

Access to care for individuals and families is a foundational strategy to having the opportunity to lead a healthy life and to reducing preventable, premature death. Specifically, access to care is a critical cornerstone of the prevention, identification, and treatment of issues connected to leading causes of death.

The Health and Human Services Committee is expected to vote TODAY whether to fund programs that prevent child abuse. The Community Partnership for Protecting Children (CPPC) is a network of community providers and residents who are working to eliminate child abuse and neglect.
