At its third annual Community Night on October 23, United Way of Greater Portland’s Brick & Beam Society announced $75,000 of investments in two initiatives that provide STEM programming for children in Portland, South Portland, and Westbrook, and align with the Greater Portland community’s Thrive2027 Goals.
At its September meeting, United Way of Greater Portland’s Board of Directors voted to endorse the passage of Maine Referendum Questions 4 & 5 on this November’s ballot. Both bonds questions directly align with the UWGP’s public policy agenda and support the work of Thrive2027 Goal 2.
On September 14, Greater Portland delivered enough food for 28,163 meals and broke last year’s record for Cumberland County’s largest one-day food drive (16,428 donated in 2017). United Way of Greater Portland kicked off its 2018 Campaign with the third annual United We CAN event in Monument Square, featuring can sculptures built by sixteen teams:
