HELP WELCOME STUDENTS BACK TO SCHOOL

The Multilingual and Multicultural Center (MLMC) at Portland Public Schools seeks volunteers for their annual Back to School Fair that will take place on Saturday, August 25, from 1-5pm at Ocean Avenue Elementary School. This event supports Portland Public Schools’ families with online school forms and provides information about after school programs, community resources, and more, while staff from MLMC help translated and provide information about the school system for those who need it. MLMC is in need of volunteers for the following tasks: set up, clean up, registration, directing parents to where they need to go, and childcare assistance. Volunteers are welcome to come for a short shift or stay the whole time. Set up will begin at 11am and clean up will go until 6pm. To sign up to volunteer, submit an application at mlc.portlandschools.org/volunteer or contact blaken@portlandschools.org for more information.

The organization is also looking for an individual with a love of cooking to serve as a guest ‘chef’ every other Saturday or Sunday at the Gosnell House in Scarborough. Please reach out to Kathy Leddy at kleddy@hospiceofsouthernmaine.org or call (207) 303-5037 with questions.
